Sauvignon

The Gipfelkreuz Sauvignon is rooted in our highest vineyard, located at about 600 meters above sea level in the St. Nikolaus fraction of Kaltern. This site receives a lot of early morning sun and is characterized by a cool, lightly windy climate. Planted in 2012, this vineyard is relatively young, and we have found that aging 20% of our Gipfelkreuz in barrique creates that coveted harmony we search for in a Sauvignon Blanc.

Aromatically driven by citrus and vegetal aromas, this wine’s nose has lingering tones of flowers and elderberry. In the mouth it is sophisticated and complex: ripe and smooth with notes of butter and caramel cream bound together with refined acidity and the most delicate hints of vanilla. With a persistent and structured presence on the palate, floral and woody nuances precede a buttery encore that gives this wine an elegant finish intermingled with undertones of minerality.
