The inspiration for the name of this wine came from our daughter, Marie, whose character echoes in so many of the qualities of this wine that amaze us. Marie has a golden and positively tremendous vibrance about her. The twinkle in her eyes reveals her playful nature and lively joie-de-vivre.
The grapes dedicated to this late harvest sweet white wine, grow on our vines in the St. Nikolaus fraction of Kaltern. We carefully monitor this vineyard for the perfect moment to harvest: when the berries have partially dried out and have just the right amount of noble rot. Once in the cellar, we press the grapes and transfer the must to steel tanks to carry out the fermentation.
A late harvest (called ‘Spätlese’ in German) white wine light amber in color, boasting aromas of candied citrus, lychee, and smoky hints of cured meat. With a harmonious and complex palate, this sweet Gewürztraminer offers notes of ripe fruit in the mouth, with flowery, dried fruit aromas and peppery nuances in the background, all powerfully bound together by an elegant acidity.
