Lagrein Riserva

This wine is a bit of an obsession for us; producing Lagrein is one of our greatest passions. The grapes for this wine are grown predominantly on gravel soils, coming from our Terlan vineyard which is located at the entrance to a former mine, as well as our vineyards in Andrian and Auer. Fermentation takes place with frequent punch downs to extract the full phenolic potential out of this exceptionally bold variety, which is equally given sufficient time to rest and refine, with 30 months of aging in wood barrels.

Slightly toasty aromas of ripe, partially dried black berries backed by notes of bitter chocolate and coffee. On the palate are notes of black fruit, smoked wood and an ever so gentle maltiness. Ample and structured yet soft tannins stand up to this wine’s power and backdrop of earthy flavors. The finish of Rotes Bergwerk is bold and, with proper decanting, is able to reach its full, fruit-packed potential.
